Abstract :
The electrical and physical characteristics of a shaped-beam vertical collinear array antenna are described. The array was designed for operation in two principal 20-MHz bands centered at approximately 1227 and 1575 MHz. The patterns are omnidirectional in azimuth and shaped to provide near-constant gain coverage in the elevation sector from 5\\deg to 30\\deg . Measured voltage standing-wave ratio (VSWR), gain, and pattern characteristics are presented.
