Abstract :
It is shown that by connecting in series two fibre-optic filter bundles containing n and m fibres, respectively, the overall response can be equivalent to that of one filter bundle containing n × m fibres, rather than n + m. This greatly simplifies the fabrication and collection optics of narrowband filters, and simultaneously improves their efficiency and fidelity.
