Abstract
This paper treats characteristics of the dielectric waveguide isolator using the transversely magnetized ferrite slab loaded on the bottom of a dielectric waveguide. The characteristics of the isolator, including magnetic loss, are described by the mode matching technique. Dispersion curves for the complex propagation constant and field distributions are numerically estimated with strong nonreciprocal phenomena. The theory on the resonance type isolator is confirmed with experiments in the frequency range of 40 - 50 GHz with a maximum isolation of 15 dB and insertion loss of 6 dB.
