Abstract
A new signal detection method has been develeped. The method can detect signals more accurately than the conventional method, even for distorted waveforms due to noise and media defects. Signals are detected by means of two slice levels that check the amplitude and polarity of reproduced waveform peaks. Experimental results show that this new method is effective for increasing the level margins.
