Abstract
Crosstalk in multiwavelength ring networks that utilize cascaded EDFAs and cascaded Fabry-Perot filters is analyzed. The channel-spacing and filter-bandwidth requirements for a 15-channel ring network are identified. It is found that a Fabry-Perot filter bandwidth of 12 times the signal bit rate is necessary to ensure a power penalty of less than 2.4 dB. Channel spacing of the same value is required to achieve small crosstalk penalties.<>
