Abstract
A new thermomagnetic sensor for the tracking of mass-flows in a steel manufacturing system is proposed and its operations are discussed. The output characteristics are analyzed based on simple assumptions. The calculated values agree well with the experimental ones. The sensitivity is improved by using bias coils and by a comparator in the output circuit.
