Abstract
A generalized approach to the use of continuous distribution approximation for generating capacity reliability evaluation is presented. The well-known Gram-Charlier´s expression is a special case of this general formulation. Using this formulation, any continuous distribution function can be examined for its suitability for modeling generation systems. The results obtained by using two- and three-parameter gamma distribution functions with this approach are compared with those from the normal model or the Gram-Charlier expansion
