Abstract :
Magneto-optical TbFeCo/NiFe double layer films were fabricated to improve recording characteristics of amorphous TbFeCo films. The NiFe layer is intended for enhancement of the demagnetizing field in the TbFeCo layer. Thermo-magnetic writing was achieved to evaluate the recording characteristics of TbFeCo/NiFe films in comparison with those of TbFeCo films. In TbFeCo/NiFe films, no obvious internal structure of recorded domains can be observed and magnetization of the domains seems stronger than that of TbFeCo films. An origin of ring shaped magnetization reversal near the domain boundary in TbFeCo films was calculated by a demagnetizing field model.
