Abstract :
An optical fibre grating filter is demonstrated that has broad wavelength tuning capability for the back-reflected guided wave. A novel ¿fan¿-shaped diffraction grating is used for this device in which the period varies continuously with position along its length. A 3 dB reflection bandpass of 0.8 nm that is tunable over a wavelength range from 1.46 to 1.54 ¿m has been observed.
