Abstract :
Refractive index profiles of dispersion compensating fibres (DCFs) with fluorine-doped cladding were explored to realise a high figure of merit. By optimising the refractive indexes of the core and cladding materials, a DCF with a figure of merit of 250 ps/nm/dB was successfully fabricated.
