Abstract :
The reversible transverse susceptibility of particulate systems has been studied theoretically. The study concentrated on a nonlinear susceptibility which is shown to provide a useful singular-point detection technique for the determination of anisotropy fields and the orientational texture of the system. Typical calculations for longitudinal particulate media and perpendicular thin films are given
