  • Abstract
In this note, the method of lines is extended to an arbitrary cross-section microstrip structure with curved and open boundaries. A dispersion characteristic equation is derived, and dispersion characteristics of several special microstrip structures are calculated. It is shown that the effective dielectric constants or characteristic impedances calculated by this method are in agreement with those calculated in the quasi-TEM case in low frequency
