Abstract :
Based on the existing theories on scattering from a volume of rain and empirical models on rain drop size distribution and Mie solution of the problem of diffraction by a sphere, it is shown that for radar frequencies below 10 GHz one can realize 10 dB rain rejection by using circular polarization as opposed to linear polarization for bistatic angles of up to 90\\deg .
