Abstract
Above a critical frequency, the dominant mode on coplanar waveguide leaks power in the form of a surface wave on the surrounding substrate, causing undesirable crosstalk and unexpected package effects. Studies revealing several interesting behavioral features are discussed. The features are the conditions under which the leakage rate is strong or weak, the significant modifications in leakage behavior that occur when the CPW width changes from finite to infinite, and the presence of unexpected sharp minima (cancellation effects) in the leakage rate
