Abstract :
A simple relationship between the output signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) of an adaptive array and the eigenvalues of the associate signal covariance matrix is pointed out. For two simple cases involving continuous wave (CW) signals, it is shown that the eigenvalue associated with the desired signal is equal to the SINR plus one. This relationship is useful for understanding the effects of element patterns and spacings on eigenvalue behavior in adaptive arrays.
