Abstract :
Amorphous films of TbFeCo and NdDyFeCo alloys were prepared on Polycarbonate pregrooved substrates and quartz glass surfaces by an electron beam evaporation. Kerr-rotation, magnetization, coercivity, and Curie temperature were studied on those films. Large Kerr rotation of 0.41 degree and low Curie temperature of 160°C were obtained for the (Nd33Dy67)37(Fe75Co25)63. Studies on write/read characteristics revaled that the compensation composition of TbFeCo was significantly advantage for magneto-optical data storage. It was found that the NdDyFeCo was useful for the high data transfer rate recording on the magneto-optical memory.
