Abstract
A small pilot low-cost radio-telephone network has been installed in the Bonthe District of Sierra Leone, consisting of 26 stations installed for public use in small towns and districts. The network is based on stations using 27 MHz Citizen Band (CB) transceivers controlled by separate microprocessor controllers. The stations are powered by amorphous-silicon solar cells with lead-acid back-up batteries
