Remembering engineering education in Russia

The author reminisces about her experience with the engineering educational system in Russia. Spending almost six years (1975-1981) as a student of electromechanical engineering at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI), the author was able to identify several unique features of the Russian educational system. The author also describes the college and departmental structure of MPEI, the various institutions housed at the institute, and the many cultural events and programs regularly organized to promote social and cultural interaction among students
