Abstract :
Accurate formant analysis of speech is crucial to speech recognition and coding systems. Here, it is shown that the analysis frame position can perturb the formant estimates. A novel temporal synchronous approach employing adaptive filter techniques is presented. The optimum frame position is obtained from probability measures derived from filter parameters, thereby attenuating formant perturbation.
