Abstract
In this paper, we present a study of the linearity of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61000-4-15 flickermeter when subject to rectangular fluctuations of different amplitude. We show, both analytically and through simulation, how the scaling in block 1 causes the nonlinear response of the flickermeter. While the standard proposes scaling methods based on the rms value of the input voltage, we introduce an alternative method based on the mean value of the rectified input voltage. The measured Pst using the new scaling method has a linear relationship to the amplitude of the voltage fluctuations.
