Abstract :
A model for scattering by rough surfaces, based on the electric field integral equation and an Ansatz proposed by Brown, is presented. The model is simple because it assumes that the surface is randomly corrugated in only one dimension and it uses a computationally simple form for the correlation function. Within the framework of this model it is shown that a recently proposed approximation by Fung and Pan holds only for sufficiently large correlation lengths.
