  • Abstract
    An automatic equalizer which reduces the intersymbol interference in digital magnetic recording is applied to the R-DAT (rotary-heads digital audio tape recorder). This equalizer improves the rate of errors caused by the various characteristics of tapes and heads. The hardware implementation is described, and performance results are presented. The technique could be applied to other high-density recording systems
