Abstract :
A method of analysing passive surface-emitting second-harmonic generators is presented. The analysis takes into account multiple reflections of the second-harmonic light that occur at material interfaces within the device structure. Calculations are performed to investigate the properties of AlGaAs/GaAs coherent green surface-emitting generators. The effects that substrate orientation have on the efficiency of these devices is discussed in detail. Enhancements to efficiency brought about by the application of impedance matching considerations are discussed
