Abstract :
A consumer VCR local bus system for control signals called LANC, which allows a VCR to be integrated into a total system, has been developed. The LANC system can be applied to 8-mm, VHS, and beta-format VCRs, whether deck, camcorder, or portable model. With LANC, the VCR can communicate its status in detail to allow a fuller range of commands and perform a variety of complex operations. The LANC system utilizes a small, inexpensive dedicated interface block circuit and system-control microprocessor, making the system as a whole inexpensive and easy to install
