Abstract :
An exact expression for the characteristic impedance of two infinite cones of elliptic cross section is found through direct integration of the transverse electromagnetic (TEM) electric and magnetic fields in conical coordinates. Two special cases, the infinite circular biconical antenna and the infinite "bowtie," agree with previously known results.
