Abstract
The application of the boundary element method (BEM) in two-dimensional scattering problems with circular boundaries is considered. Uniform discretization of the boundaries results in circulant or block-circulant matrices which provide a great economy in memory storage requirements, and through the use of fast Fourier transform (FFT) techniques, reduction in computation time. Some of the described methods can be applied in problems with regular polygonal boundaries.
