  • Abstract
During the past seven years, over 2.5 million feet of cable in North America and Europe have been treated using silicone dielectric enhancement technology. Most of the treated cable has been rated at 10-25kV and most has been small residential distribution cable. The anecdotal results from the field implementation are impressive. Virtually all failures have halted in the treated URD cables. Early attempts to use this technology on feeder cables had not been so impressive. This paper describes the improvements in the technology aimed at resolving these early deficiencies. A new formulation was developed that not only addressed the deficiencies of the old technology in feeder cables but has led to two-fold to three-fold performance enhancement beyond the previous generation technology.<>
