Abstract
An equivalent circuit model has been developed to describe the CW output characteristics of 1.3 μm injection lasers. Using the model, full derivative characteristics can be generated to emulate the operation of the devices. The model has been specifically applied to optimise the operation of 1.3μm DCPBH lasers by identifying the dominant leakage paths and suggesting structural improvements which minimise the leakage contribution.
