Abstract
H. Alfven and others have shown that when a conducting fluid is placed in a magnetic field the interaction of the electromagnetic and hydrodynamic forces generates a new type of wave, the nagneto-hydrodynamic wave. Using a description of these waves in an ideal fluid as a prototype, we briefly discuss their properties for various types of conducting fluids. A list of references is given.
