            Abstract :
2.5 Gbit/s operation with a penalty of 0.5 dB at BER=10-9 is demonstrated by using an optically triggered bistable laser incorporating a proton bombarded absorber section. This high speed and low penalty make this kind of device particularly suitable for application in future cascaded wavelength-division photonic switching systems.
