Abstract :
With the introduction of network ready cameras, the concurrent support of high quality uncompressed video and extended connectivity is required. Although the IEEE 1394 standard (Firewire) is best in supporting high quality uncompressed video, it has too limited cable range. Accordingly, this paper presents a novel system which extends Firewire high quality video to a long range Ethernet network. The proposed system dynamically maps isochrones channels to Ethernet multicast quality of service guaranteed channels. The system is implemented on a chip, and is tested experimentally.
