Abstract
An approach to the design of an ultra-wideband (UWB) transmitter taking into account the radiated field limit as specified by the U.S. Federal Communication Commission is presented. With this approach, UWB transmitters that use 3.62 GHz of bandwidth under the Part 15 template can be achieved. This is a sevenfold improvement over the common practice of using only 500 MHz blocks of the template. The objectives and details of the design are presented. Finally, the results from the UWB communications system providing 78% template filling efficiency are presented.
