Abstract
A stability assessment of the dynamic operation of an arc furnace connected to an AC supply is performed using bifurcation theory. The system eigenvalues are calculated, bifurcation diagrams are drawn and the stability at the equilibrium points is analysed. The effect of varying the bifurcation parameter on the dynamic behaviour of the arc furnace is investigated.
