  • Abstract
    The use of a novel miniaturized Er:Yb:glass laser at 1530 nm as a multiple wavelength source for multi-wavelength network applications is reported. In four-channel transmission experiments at 565 MHz and 1.8 GHz very low partition noise has been demonstrated, resulting in less than 1 db penalty for 10/sup /spl minus/9/ bit error rate level.<>
