Abstract :
The temperature dependence of the bandwidth, gain and noise figure of an erbium doped fibre amplifier in the temperature range 77-343 K, when pumped at 1.48 mu m is reported. A quantitative evaluation of the amplifier performance around conventional operating temperatures for different signal wavelengths is also presented.
