Abstract :
Measurements of lines of position (LOP) of a metal ship using the Decca navigator system show errors which follow a semicircular pattern with respect to the bow of the ship. An equivalent error pattern is derived assuming the ship to be a secondary radiator represented by a vertical loop antenna.
