Abstract :
Root-mean-square-phase jitter reduction from 4 to 1 ps in an all-optical 3R regenerator module operating for continuous and different length data packets at 40 Gbit/s is presented. The circuit is based on hybrid integrated Mach-Zehnder interferometric switches. Error-free operation is demonstrated with 2.5 dB power penalty improvement.
