Abstract
A/D converters are the bottleneck of modern power distribution digital measurement systems. This problem is especially emphasized in cases of signals with high amplitude dynamics and/or fast and precise multichannel measurement, which are often present in distribution system online measurements. In this paper, a new type of of A/D converter, the adding A/D converter, is proposed to meet these requirements. It is tested with the signals from a real distribution network, i.e. in the presence of harmonic pollution and high signal dynamics. The results shows that it offers improvements in both cases of online digital measurement
