Abstract
This paper investigates the V-shaped conical-cylindrical antenna where each arm consists of two parts: a conducting lower cylindrical part and an upper conical part with finite conductivity. The performance of this antenna was tested for different opening angles, different dimensions of each part of the antenna, and different finite conductivity materials. The simulated reflected energy, return loss, radiation pattern, and fidelity factor are presented. For this design, an increase in bandwidth has been achieved and a very high fidelity greater or equal to 0.97 has been obtained. The broadband characteristics are obtained by a suitable choice of antenna geometry. The proposed antenna can be used for a wide range of applications, especially ultrawideband (UWB) microwave radar applications such as biological sensing and imaging.
