Abstract
The induction heating of circular ferromagnetic plates is studied to predict power levels under various excitation conditions. A detailed and accurate analysis based on a unique "noninteraction" approximation is presented. A lumped parameter transformer model is developed with the nonlinear equivalent disk resistance expressed as a function of the terminal variables in the system. The transformer model is applied to predict operating characteristics. Experimental results are presented to justify the theoretical model.
