Abstract
In the fall of 1976, a series of experiments to explore the uses of a telephone with both voice and data capability was started. This paper describes the evolution, through five different models, ending with an integrated combination of a six button keyset with speakerphone, a full ASCII keyboard, and a 24 line by 80 character CRT display. There are 25 relabelable buttons around the display. Reasons are given for the various arbitrary choices which were made.
