Abstract
Optical fiber transmission systems are applied widely in various commercial areas. In order to support these systems, it is necessary to accurately measure the fibers and fiber systems. This paper discusses measurement limitations, and then briefly surveys the fundamental techniques employed in practical measurement sets. Alter discussing the ambiguity existing in multimode fiber measurements, the performance of these measurement sets is shown indicating problems to be solved.
