Abstract :
The linearity of injecting charge into charge-coupled devices (CCD´s) by potential equilibration method has been studied. Experimental results obtained agree Well with the theoretically derived expression for the input characteristic. If the two input gates have identical structures, i.e., the same oxide thicknesses and substrate dopings, input linearity is obtained irregardless to which gate the signal is applied. On the other hand, if the two gates are different, the signal should always be applied to the second gate in order to obtain a linear input function.
