Abstract
A spectral technique is proposed for studying and predicting chaos in a one-dimensional array of Chua´s circuits. By use of a suitable double transform, the network is reduced to a scalar Lur´e system to which the describing function technique is applied for discovering the existence and the characteristics of periodic waves. Finally, by the computation of the distortion index, an approximate tool is given for detecting the occurrence of chaos
