  • Abstract
    The requirements of high-speed transoceanic transmission on optical fibers dictate that the line regenerators exhibit an unusual combination of high performance and high reliability. We describe the design and the measured performance of the regenerators developed for a transatlantic system targeted for deployment in 1988.
