Abstract :
A high-sensitivity displacement sensor based on the integration of a dual polarization distributed Bragg reflector fiber laser with cantilever beam is demonstrated. The cantilever beam converts the displacement into a transverse force onto the fiber laser which results in a modulation in the fiber birefringence and hence the beat frequency of the laser. A sensitivity of 0.402 GHz/mm is implemented. The sensitivity dependence on the parameters of the transducer is investigated.
