Abstract
Facility hubbing, based on the use of high-speed digital cross-connect systems and alternative fiber network topologies, is analyzed for applications to BOC interoffice networks. The paper quantifies benefits for facility hubbing compared to metallic growth as well as point-to-point fiber transmission and considers alternative network transition strategies.
