Abstract :
The approximations leading to linear-phase MFIR filters are analyzed. It is shown that the zero-phase nature of the IIR transfer functions to use as targets requires different approximation expressions for the poles inside and outside the unit circle and determines the presence of positive powers of z (anticipation) in the resulting MFIR filter expressions
