Abstract :
Signal recording and reproducing characteristics of Co-O evaporated films were investigated with incident angle of deposition, film thickness, and oxygen flow rate as process parameters. The film was deposited continuously in a roll coater while introducing oxygen gas. In order to prevent tape curling, the tape substrate used was a 50-micron PET in comparison to 9 to 25 micron tape in previous studies. The analysis of recording and reproducing characteristics shows that a film, of approximately 6000 Å thickness and large saturation magnetization has a high output signal for a high frequency range of 9 MHz, which is 4 times larger than the commercially available metal evaporated tapes
