Abstract :
Signals propagating on the interdigitated electrodes of Turner´s beam-indexing kinescope encounter delays of 50 to 100 ns across the full width of typical screen sizes. Reflections from one end of the structure permit the phase of the fundamental component of the indexing signal to be independent of the beam position if the delay is not too large. It appears unlikely that a wide-band indexing signal, free both from chrominance contamination and from position-dependent delays, can be extracted at the indexing electrode terminals.
